I saw a giant exhibition of Warhol prints at the DIA Beacon a few months ago which left me feeling nothing, even after lounging in the ultra-comfy sofa for half an hour drinking in his work. But I really do appreciate some of the quotes which I have seen attributed to him. This one, which came from Artquotes, I particularly enjoyed for its honesty.
A lady friend of mine asked me, “Well, what do you love most?” That's how I started painting money.
.......Andy Warhol
This quote resonated with me because I have had to learn the value of money as a means to survival and making dreams happen. As a younger person, I was full of lofty humanitarian goals and shunned money, but I didn't get much done either. Today I still have the lofty goals, but have also grown to appreciate and love money as a tool to reach those goals. Thats one thing you learn in America!
