Glad someone's looking out for the animals. I discovered this link over at The Journal News.

Holistic veterinarian Sara Winikoff plans to leave today for India to care for animals left homeless or injured by the tsunami disaster.
The Blauvelt woman will travel to the city of Chennai on the southeastern coast of India to help animal shelters overwhelmed with domestic animals that survived the Dec. 26 earthquake and tsunami in South Asia.
"When this disaster hit, I wanted to do what I could. My training is to help the animals,," Winikoff said. "The humans right now are getting 99.9 percent of the attention and therefore the donations and the help is going to them. They're not the only ones who suffered."
For 10 days, she'll dress and suture wounds, treat diseases and parasites, administer medication and provide basic care for companion animals, such as dogs and cats, and livestock such as cows and goats.
"They're desperately in need of veterinarians," she said. "These countries are overrun with animals that no longer have people to care for them. When you do this kind of work, you expect to be awake around the clock."
